Let’s Talk About the Stories We Tell Ourselves -Limiting Beliefs

You know the ones —“I’m not ready.” “I’m not good enough.” “I could never do that.”

They sound so final, don’t they? Like facts etched in stone.

But what if they’re not truths… just beliefs? And the beautiful, hopeful thing about beliefs? They can be challenged. Rewritten. Replaced.

The Power of a Thought

Our brains are meaning-making machines. From the time we’re young, we gather experiences, feedback, offhand comments, wins, and wounds — and we start building a mental library of “truths” about ourselves.

But here’s the kicker: not everything in that library is accurate.

Maybe someone told you once that you weren’t cut out for something— and you believed them. Maybe you failed once— and decided you’re not meant to try again. Maybe you’ve spent so much time comparing yourself that “not enough” has started to feel like your baseline.

But you weren’t born thinking any of those things. Which means they can be unlearned.

Common Limiting Beliefs (and Why They’re So Sneaky)

Limiting beliefs aren’t just loud and obvious. They’re often subtle and well-disguised:

  • “It’s too late for me.”

  • “I have to be perfect before I start.”

  • “If I try and fail, it’ll prove everyone right.”

  • “I’m just not that kind of person.”

And the tricky thing? They feel like the truth because they’ve been with us for so long. But if you take even one of them and ask, Is this absolutely true? — the door opens just a little.

That’s where the work begins.

3 Journal Prompts to Start Rewriting the Narrative

Here are three prompts to tease the Reality Processing Journal to help you dig a little deeper and challenge the stories that have been running the show:

1. What’s one thing you’ve been afraid to try, and why?

This one gets honest fast. Write out your fear, then write out the why. You might be surprised by what’s underneath — fear of failure, fear of judgment, fear of success (yes, that one’s real too).

2. What would tomorrow look like if you believed you were already enough?

No need to “fix” or improve or hustle your way into worthiness. What if you woke up and believed — just as you are — that you’re enough? How would that shift your day?

3. What negative belief about yourself are you ready to rewrite?

This is where the magic happens. Take one belief that’s been weighing on you. Write it down. Cross it out. Then write its opposite — the belief you want to hold instead. Even if you don’t fully believe it yet… give it a voice.

Example: Old belief: “I’m always behind.” Rewritten: “I move at the pace that’s right for me. I’m not late to my own life.”

You Don’t Need to Have It All Figured Out

Hey friend, listen. You don’t need to have every step mapped. You don’t need to wait until you feel 100% confident.

You just need to stop giving power to the thoughts that are keeping you stuck. The work is in the small daily rewrites. That’s what the Reality Processing Journal is here for — not to give you answers, but to give you the space to find your own.

Want to Go Deeper?

The Reality Processing Journal is a gentle guide through the big and small shifts that change everything:

  • From overwhelmed to grounded

  • From self-doubt to clarity

  • From playing small to reclaiming your voice

If you’re craving space to reflect, reset, and rewrite — this journal was made for you.

📌 Save this post to revisit when your thoughts feel heavy, and tag a friend who needs a reminder: Your thoughts are not your truth. You get to choose what stays.
